VIETNAM NATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION QUALITY PRESENTED TO VNU’S MEMBER UNIVERSITIES

On October 6, 2016, VNU held a ceremony to announce the Decision on presenting national education quality accreditation certificates to the following three VNU’s member universities: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the University of Languages and International Studies and the University of Economics and Business.

These are the first VNU’s member universities to have been assessed and given national education quality certificates by VNU-HCM Centre for Education Quality Accreditation, an independent quality accreditation organization of Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn, VNU Vice Presidents, senior experts, leaders of VNU Office, VNU functional departments, VNU Institute for Education Quality Assurance, VNU Centre for Education Quality Accreditation, member universities and affiliates.

VNU-HCM Vice President, Director of VNU-HCM Centre for Education Quality Accreditation Nguyễn Hội Nghĩa presented the certificates to the named universities.

VNU-HCM Centre for Education Quality Accreditation assessed the education quality of VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities from December 4 to December 7, 2015 and that of VNU University of Languages and International Studies and VNU University of Economics and Business from March 22 to March 25, 2016.

All the three above-named VNU’s member universities have met the Ministry of Education and Training’s (MOET’s) quality standards, among which there have been such important criteria as staff, training programs, scientific research and graduates’ employment.

The accreditation shows that, in terms of points gained, the three VNU’s member universities are listed among the top group of universities having met MOET’s education quality standards to date. This is a milestone in education quality accreditation within VNU, proving its training quality.

VNU-HCM Vice President Nguyễn Hội Nghĩa said that the three VNU’s member universities had been the first of their kind to have been given the education accreditation certificate by VNU-HCM Centre for Education Quality Accreditation, which formed a quality culture aimed towards sustainable development among higher education institutions.

According to VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn, VNU has always been the pioneer and an activist in quality assurance both nationally and internationally and has attained significant results, contributing to both promoting  VNU’s prestige and proving its brand name.

He suggested that the three named VNU’s member universities promote their strengths and mitigate the limitations for continuous quality improvement and gradually turning VNU into a comprehensively-developed institution meeting the standards of an advanced research university to contribute to the developing of the nation’s education.

Besides the above three universities, VNU University of Engineering and Technology and University of Education have been qualified for awarding the same certificate in the days to come. In addition, VNU has registered its University of Science for the Asian University Network (AUN) quality accreditation in January, 2017. This will be the first VNU’s member university to be accredited by AUN. Thus, VNU will become the first institution with all its member universities having graduates to have been either nationally or internationally assessed and accredited.
